The previously-rumoured PG-13 cut of adult superhero jaunt “Deadpool 2” has been confirmed with star and producer Ryan Reynolds taking to his socials today to confirm the trimmed re-issue.
Fox have recut the Summer sequel, retitled it “Once Upon a Deadpool” and have skedded it for a December 12 release – one that runs through Christmas Eve.
Most of the footage edited out of the film is, not surprisingly, the violence and language. There’s new footage in the film though, including a framing sequence that sees Reynolds’ Deadpool reading a bedtime story to Fred Savage’s “Princess Bride” character (all grown up, of course).
“Fox has been asking for a PG-13 basically since the start in 2006,” Reynolds told Deadline on Monday. “I’ve said no since 2006. Now, this one time, I said ‘Yes’ on two conditions. First, a portion of the proceeds had to go to charity. Second, I wanted to kidnap Fred Savage. The second condition took some explaining…”
A third “Deadpool” will be released by the brand’s new home, Disney.
