The revival of “Will & Grace” is proving to be incredibly popular, having just scored a renewal for a third season on NBC. The show is still airing season 1, but has had its second season increased from 13 episodes to 18, and a third season penned in following the positive response.
The first season of the revival was originally set for 10 episodes, which was subsequently increased to 12, then to 16. The show reunites the original cast of Eric McCormack, Debra Messing, Megan Mullally and Sean Hayes.
NBC Entertainment chairman Robert Greenblatt said:
“As far as I’m concerned, we can’t get enough of “Will & Grace”, and 23 more episodes is music to my ears. We’re eternally grateful that Debra, Eric, Sean and Megan feel the same way and wanted to keep this good thing going. I’m overwhelmed by the euphoric response the new show has received from the press and the audience, and my hat is off to the unrivaled writing team of Max Mutchnick and David Kohan, as well as the brilliant directing of Jimmy Burrows, for consistently delivering one of the best shows on television.”
The main cast are expected to receive salary increases for the third season, which will probably mean they make more per episode than I will ever make in my entire career.
Popular guest stars on season 1 have included Jennifer Lopez, Alec Baldwin, Minnie Driver, Ben Platt, Molly Shannon, Jane Lynch and Andrew Rannells.
