Planet of the Apes reboot confirmed at Disney

A few months back, our own Mike Lowery exclusively reported that Disney were very keen to relaunching the money-spinning, long-running “Planet of the Apes” franchise now that they’d acquired it as part of the Fox acquisition.

On Tuesday’s third earnings quarter chat with media, the house-of-Mouse’s Bob Iger confirmed that plans are afoot to bring back those “damn dirty” Apes for another go-round – this time with Disney.

Also during that initial scoop, Lowery confirmed plans for Disney to continue making “Alien” films – which Fox CEO Emma Watts would later confirm during CinemaCon.

Disney also announced today, during the earnings call, that reboots of a number of family films, including “Home Alone”, “Cheaper By The Dozen”, “A Night at the Museum” and “Diary of a Wimpy Kid”, are on the way.
