John Woo pitched Paramount a Face/Off sequel

Appearing at the Hawaii International Film Festival, legendary director John Woo revealed that he is not involved in the recently announced reboot of his ‘90s classic “Face/Off”. Woo added that he had pitched Paramount a sequel to the John Travolta-Nicolas Cage film though.

There were reports about fifteen years ago that Woo had spoken to the studio about continuing the story set-up in his blockbuster action-thriller – but it mustn’t have progressed beyond an initial yak. Assumingly, Woo’s idea would’ve involved John Travolta’s Sean Archer having to switch mugs with a new character, since Cage’s Castor Troy met his maker at the end of the first.

The version Paramount has greenlit, which Woo said he wasn’t even informed about, was assumingly be more “remake” than reboot. Oren Uziel, known for “22 Jump Street” and “The Cloverfield Paradox”, is penning the script for producer Neal Moritz.
